About IEM

IEM is a Nepalese Institution that is working in the areas of Human Resources Development,
awareness creation, training, backstopping, intervention, consultancy, and networking within the
overall field of Industrial Environmental Management and to some extent in Urban Air Quality
Management.

Since January 2000, IEM has developed and implemented over 20 specific training courses. It has
now developed a core corpus of 30 trained and experienced experts within the fields of Cleaner
Production (CP), Energy Efficiency (EE), Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), and Environmental
Management Systems (EMS). It has 3 certified ISO 140001 and 9002 lead auditors as full time
staff.

As a non profit organization that aspires to be a "centre of excellence" in providing services
towards the needs of the nation with regards to management & mitigation of industrial and urban
environmental issues, IEM has collected relevant information on status of many industrial sectors
and regions in Nepal, use of appropriate

technologies, documented the lessons learned, and
disseminated them.
In partnership with institutions (governmental, NGO, private sector) and individuals in Nepal and
internationally, IEM shares learning processes designed to build awareness, knowledge, and
capacities. IEM seeks to provide balanced inputs to technical cooperation and to initiate
sustainable development processes that empower the human resources and the target groups or
clients to achieve self reliance.
